How an idea in the hangar lead to entrepreneurship

In late 2024 QOCO Systems turned 15 years old. We deciced it was time to sit down with the founder of the company Ilari Neitola and have a chat about the history and future of QOCO Systems.

While aviation is known for its high-tech advancements, many airlines still rely on outdated systems for aircraft maintenance. Ilari Neitola, who studied aerospace engineering and interned at Finnair, noticed this inefficiency early on.

“Safety is always the top priority, but maintenance processes could be much more efficient,” Neitola explains. “Mechanics were still manually recording data and entering it into systems.”

Seeing an opportunity for change, Neitola founded Qoco Systems in 2009 to provide digital solutions for the aviation industry. The company’s breakthrough came when Rolls-Royce became its first major client.

“The Airbus A350’s unique engine required more data exchange between airlines and manufacturers,” Neitola says, "and we helped streamline that process."

Now, QOCO Systems serves clients like Rolls-Royce, Finnair, TAP Air Portugal, Widerøe, and Endeavor Air. The company has developed tools that help with engine data, tooling control and staff allocation. Products with great financial impact for the MROs and Airlines.

Qoco’s future is bright. “We plan to double our recurring revenue next year and surpass five million euros this year,” Neitola shares.

With backing from venture capital firm Juuri Partners, Qoco Systems aims to expand its reach, focusing on Europe, the Middle East, and the U.S.
