We’re excited to announce Matti Nevala as Chief Executive Officer at QOCO Systems Ltd. Matti is a seasoned executive with over ten years of extensive experience in leading growth companies. Under his leadership, QOCO will be guided to its subsequent development chapter. We asked him to share his thoughts on why he’s joined the team:
What inspired you to take on the CEO role at QOCO Systems Ltd, particularly at this pivotal moment in the aviation industry's digital evolution?
I have been following the development of QOCO since its inception. I have been particularly close to the company for the past three years, as I have been on the company's board. During this time, the company's business has grown significantly, and the team has transitioned the business from consulting to a modern SaaS model, which is incredibly challenging amidst the COVID-19 pandemic in the aviation industry. I believe the company's growth will continue as we solve our customers' business-critical problems with excellent products!
Do you have any particularly memorable experiences or accomplishments in your aviation career?
Since childhood, I have been interested in airplanes and have enjoyed flying radio-controlled planes and helicopters. Currently, my brother flies a jumbojet, but my own dreams of becoming a fighter pilot were dashed when I grew too tall during my time in the military. One of the most memorable experiences related to aviation was getting to fly aerobatics in a glider in the Colorado mountains in 2010.
What specific strategies do you plan to implement to ensure that QOCO remains at the forefront of innovation in the digital aviation landscape?
We will continue to remain close to the customer and strive to solve business critical problems for them. With a passionate and skilled QOCO crew, we will continue to create products that mechanics love to use, providing significant competitive advantages for our client companies in their operations.
How do you envision QOCO's role in shaping the future of aviation software and technology?
We are still relatively small but a highly skilled and reliable partner for our customers. I believe that word of well-done work spreads within the industry, and we can serve an increasing number of customers with modern software solutions.
What do you hope will be the lasting legacy of your leadership in terms of digital transformation at QOCO and within the aviation industry as a whole?
No one builds significant success stories alone; they are built together over time. I want to contribute to ensuring that we remain customer-centric and effectively create value for our customers, business partners and other stakeholders.
How will you ensure that QOCO remains competitive in the rapidly evolving landscape of aviation software and technology?
The crew at QOCO is truly skilled, and I believe that curiosity about new technologies, combined with a deep understanding of customer needs, produces the best results.
What are some of the biggest challenges facing the aviation industry today, and how are they being addressed?
Recruiting skilled personnel for aircraft maintenance has posed significant challenges post-pandemic. As the number of flights increases, so does the demand for maintenance. By digitizing their processes, MRO operators can free up their capacity. Simultaneously, job satisfaction improves as mechanics can perform their tasks using modern tools. Data-driven management will become increasingly emphasized in the future, and through automated data exchange, manual documentation related to aircraft maintenance, for example, will decrease, allowing limited personnel resources to be directed more towards value-added work.
